Garden Build – Sea Road, Barton on Sea

This was a very big project from the start. Working for a lovely couple who have not been able to enjoy their garden for years due to it not being wheelchair accessible. She provided me a basic design of what she wanted to make it accessible with a section for her own style of planting. With a hot coloured sectioned which her husband wanted. The slick grey Indian sandstone tiles with the cream walling and house makes the garden seem very large and open but still does not lack the space for planting which the large architectural plants salvaged from what was there before worked very well.

This garden was very challenging as we incorporated many different garden features. The old summer house had its roof recovered to create what we like to call the bandstand. This is a sheltered spot near the largest area of patio. There is a Dutch barn which is more interesting and fun then a normal garden shed. Two covered pergolas, one for her woodworking hobby and the other a sheltered spot to sit out and view the garden close to the house. The roof is a semi clear polycarbonate. A small pond which originally on the plan to be a raised block planter near the house so the fish can be seen.

This has been one of my favourite projects throughout mainly due to the fact my customers have been brilliant and to see the pleasure they have got from the garden since makes all the hard work worthwhile!
